Your PELC Staff

The staff at PELC is fully equipped to ready your child for his/her formal education.  The teachers of PELC are certified and each teacher has a classroom assistant.  We fully comply with MSDE in completing service hours in curriculum and development of young children, thus keeping up with trends in education. Lesson plans are thoughtfully planned by staff with the domains of kindergarten readiness and developing social skills as the top priority.  Best of all we love what we do!  We love working with our young students and have lots of experience in many different areas!  Each of us brings something unique to PELC!

Director

Ms. Andrea joined PELC in 2020. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Penn State and a Lead Teacher Certificate from AACC.  Ms. Andrea has taught 4th grade at Columbia Academy, 5th grade at Harmon Hebron Elementary, has substituted in AACPS, and was a TSA in the Autism classroom at Pasadena Elementary. She was a teacher at Our Shepherd Preschool for 7 years, first as an assistant and then becoming a lead teacher. Ms. Andrea has and still does volunteer in the Chesapeake Cluster with AACPS, at her church: St. John the Evangelist, and with Boy Scouts.  This will be Andrea's 5th year at PELC!

Ms. Denise joined PELC in 2018 as a substitute teacher. In 2021, she became an assistant, and in 2023 she became the Lead Teacher for the 2 year olds.  Prior to us, Denise operated a home child care center for over 30 years.  Her child care center had a proven track record of success with an accreditation through the National Association of Family Child Care, offering a daily curriculum of critical learning skills for her students.  She has also obtained her 90 Hour Lead Teaching Certificate through Anne Arundel Community College.  This will be Denise's 7th year at PELC!

Ms. Kristy joined PELC in 2011. She holds an Elementary Education Degree from Salisbury University and a Master’s Equivalency from Loyola University. She also obtained her 90 Hour Lead Teacher Certificate. Ms. Kristy has taught in Anne Arundel County and Queen Anne County schools for 11 years. She was a also substitute at Pasadena Early Learning Center, and a private tutor for 5 years.  This will be Kristy's 14th year at PELC!

Ms. Marie joined PELC in 2006. She holds a degree in Early Childhood Elementary Education from Towson University and an Assoicates Degree in Secondary Education from Anne Arundel Community College. Ms. Marie was a substitute teacher and taught Pre-kindergarten in Anne Arundel County Schools for five years.  She is also a mentor/volunteer with the Chesapeake High School Theatre Company. This will be Marie's 19th year at PELC!

Ms. Nikki joined PELC in 2021 as an assistant and in 2023 became a lead teacher for the 3s.  She was as a Lead Teacher at the YWCA, where she obtained her 90 hour Certificate for Childcare through Anne Arundel Community College.  She also worked at Grace United Learning Center. While there, she was a Lead Teacher at their daycare and preschool facility, and was later promoted to Director of Learning.  She also worked at Pasadena Elementary and Fort Smallwood Elementary School as a Teaching Assistant.  This will be Nikki's 4th year at PELC!

Ms. Allie joined PELC in 2022. She attended Anne Arundel Community College for general studies and is working towards her Associates Degree. Ms. Allie has worked as an assistant teacher for almost 2 years at Our Shepherd preschool. She has also worked for an ABA company doing in home therapy with children diagnosed with autism. Ms. Allie has also been volunteering with Anne Arundel County Public Schools since 2007 when her niece was in kindergarten. This will be Allie's 3rd year at PELC!

Ms. Pat was a substitute teacher at PELC in 2019 and rejoined in 2023 as a teacher assistant. She graduated from Salisbury State with an Education Degree.  She taught for over 25 years as a Pre-K teacher before leaving teaching to become a nanny for her grandsons.  All three of her grandsons attended PELC, and Ms. Marie was their teacher!  For the past three years, Ms. Pat has been a small group Math Tutor at her grandsons elementary school.  This will be Pat's 3rd year at PELC

Ms. Sarah joined PELC in 2023 as a substitute, took on the role of teacher/director's aide, and now is a teacher assistant.  Sarah spent 5 years in the Navy and became a Crash & Salvage Crewman training Petty Officer. Sarah holds a Degree in Culinary Arts from the California Culinary Academy. She previously has taught cooking classes at Ramekins in Sonoma, CA and also at Williams Sonoma.  In 2022  Sarah spent a year as an assistant teacher at the Primeron where she assisted various classrooms and teachers helping them prepare lesson plans. When Sarah is not cooking up a storm you can find her doing fun activities with her husband, their sweet Pug & her son George who also attended PELC.  This will be Sarah's 2nd year at PELC!

Ms. Sarah joined PELC in 2019. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Therapy from Elizabethtown College.  Ms. Sarah has taught music in school and hospital settings to both children, adolescents and adults.  This will be Sarah's 6th year at PELC!

Ms. Heather joined PELC in 2021 as a substitute teacher, and became an assistant in 2023.  Heather lives in Severna Park with her husband, 11 year old daughter, and 9 year old son. She holds a degree in Early Childhood Education and a minor in Child and Family Development from the University of Georgia. Previously, she has taught Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 3rd grade. She also has worked part time at Folger Elementary as a TSA and Special Education support.  This will be Heather's 4th year at PELC!

Blue Room

Ms. Val is joining PELC this year as an assistant. Val has been a substitute teacher with AACPS for the past 3 years, mainly at Folger McKinsey Elementary. She takes pride in connecting with students and helping them grow in the classroom. She lives in Severna Park with her husband and her four children. Val has a degree in English Literature from Loyola University. She enjoys reading, cooking and being a swim team mom.  We are very happy to welcome Val to PELC!

Ms. Michelle
Teacher Aide & Director Aide

Ms. Michelle joined PELC as a substitute teacher in 2024 and is now part of PELC's team as a Teacher Aide & Director Aide. In 2018 Michelle left her medical assistant job of 8 years to become a stay at home mom to her 3 kiddos. Her youngest became a student at PELC in Ms. Marie's class last year and they fell in love with PELC. She is extremely happy to join the PELC family now as Teacher Aide & Director Aide as her son enters his pre-k year here and looks forward to seeing you all.  PELC is extremely happy to have Michelle in her new position!

 

As you can see, our staff prides themselves with preschool experience and working with young children. We are very proud of our certification from the Maryland Department of Education.  We strive to maintain our good standing with the state.  All of our staff have had a criminal background check, are CPR/First Aid certified and continue their education annually.  If you have any questions, please feel free to call 410-647-0006.
